Christmas is the time for giving (and by giving we mean gold, diamonds, and maybe a few rubies thrown in for good measure, too).

This festive season, we're not only bringing you the gift of our luxury range of natural and lab-grown diamonds; we're also taking you on a journey through the most sought-after jewellery pieces from classic Christmas cinema.
From Martha May Whovier’s whopping three-tiered diamond ring to the infamous golden necklace that Alan Rickman’s character gifts (to the wrong woman!) in Love Actually, our experts have carefully valued the most iconic jewellery from our festive favourites.

We’ve even ranked them from priciest to most friendly on our bank accounts (spoiler: the Love Actually necklace has skyrocketed in value since airing in 2003).

Ranking the value of iconic jewellery from Christmas classics

1. Martha May Whovier’s engagement ring from The Grinch: valued at £117,720

Taking the top spot for the priciest on-screen jewellery is the ring gifted to Martha May Whovier, valued by our experts at an astounding £117,720.

This extravagant ring outshines even Mariah Carey’s famous sparkler (which is saying something) and boasts a three-tiered diamond design set on golden prongs and a thick gold band. We must admit, the diamonds stack so high they look ready to topple off (fingers crossed Augustus Maywho chose a quality jeweller).

2. Dorey Walker’s engagement ring from Miracle on 34th Street (1994): valued at £49,392

Claiming the second spot on our Christmas jewellery podium is Dorey Walker’s engagement ring from boyfriend Bryan Bedford. This luxurious Cartier piece showcases a square-cut diamond set on a sleek platinum band, earning an impressive five-figure valuation from our experts at £49,392.

3. The Golden Heart necklace from Love Actually: valued at £4,484

Coming in third place is the iconic golden heart necklace purchased by Alan Rickman’s character, Harry, in Love Actually. Initially priced at £270 in the film, the gift features a chunky golden heart charm with a ruby accent, suspended on a gold chain. Since its (heartbreaking) debut on screens in 2003, our experts estimate that this necklace has skyrocketed in value by an astonishing 1,560%, now boasting a shelf price of £4,484 in 2024 (that’s without the wrapping).

4. Amanda Woods’ pendant in The Holiday: valued at £2,545

Taking over screens in the run-up to Christmas since 2006, The Holiday boasts major popularity. It is the film’s independent, opinionated and lovable Amanda Woods (played by Cameron Diaz) whose necklace ranks in fourth place.

Valued at £2,545, this glass pendulum-style pendant is filled with darker diamonds which move within the charm as it swings from a thin, dainty gold chain. Just like Amanda, this piece of jewellery is truly elegant.

5. Kate McCallister’s golden earrings in Home Alone 2: valued at £1,073

While Kate McCallister may occasionally forget her son, she certainly knows how to select and style her jewellery. In Home Alone 2, Catherine O'Hara’s character wears a range of memorable earrings. However, it was the stunning pair from the “Kevin!” scene that caught our eye.

As Kate screams in the airport, realising her son has hopped onto the wrong plane, she wears gold, dangling statement earrings which feature a hoop lowered from an oval, elongated stud. Our experts value the pair at £1,073, which is totally affordable compared to the costs of a week at NYC’s Plaza Hotel…

6. Jovie’s pearl ring in Elf: valued at £712

The most affordable item on our list is Jovie’s pearl ring from the 2003 classic, Elf. This piece is a minimalist, baroque-style freshwater pearl ring, with a dainty golden band. Minimalist and chic, this piece has been valued by our experts at a more affordable price of £712 (now we just need to get our hands on it).

Give a gift worthy of the silver screen this Christmas

Jewellery is a timeless Christmas gift. Not only is it thoughtful, but high-quality pieces often appreciate over time—just think of Love Actually’s Mia, who’d be thrilled to learn her gold necklace is now worth nearly £4,500.
For the best Christmas gifts that will be loved for years to come, explore our curated gifting range. The best part? You’ll find pieces perfect for day-to-day wear that are more affordable than Jovie’s pearl ring—or you can splurge on something closer to Bryan Bedford’s budget. Whatever you're looking for, there’s a little Christmas magic waiting in every diamond.
